We are chartered to the Knights of Columbus #1708 since 1953. We are open to all scouts regardless of church affiliation. We meet at Cullen Hall at St. Joseph's School every Tuesday at 7:00 PM. Campouts include weekend outings near York about once a month. Summer camps include Camp Cornhusker near Humboldt, NE each year. Every third year we attend a camp out of state which includes Camp Ben Delatour in CO, Camp Laramie Peak and Camp Buffalo Bill in WY. We attend Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico on a three year roatation where we hike and camp in the back country for ten days. Also on our three year rotation is a canoeing trip on the Niobrara River near Valentine, NE. For fund raisers we have an annual scout auction. It does very well for as a fund raiser. Each month wedo a paper drive with each patrol taking turns at the paper drive. In the Spring and Fall we do Scout popcorn with 30 percent of the popcorn monery going to the scout's individual scout account to be used for Scouting. We are blessed with a great group of Assistant Scoutmasters. The Troop Committee is well attended with adult leaders. We have a great selection of merit badge counselers as well. We participate in Good Turn projects with several civic clubs such as Lions, Elks and Knights of Columbus. We conduct an annual flag disposal ceremony each year. Troop 174 has developedcamperships for scouts that have a financial need for the bigger outings. We also have a scout uniform pool to help those in need of uniforms. Troop 174 strivers to develop charecter, citizenship and personal fitness in our activities. We intend to provide a safe haven for all scouts and leaders as we try to attain these goals.
